About the Founder Moses Nganwani Tia

Moses Nganwani Tia is an experienced International Agriculture Development professional with a specialization in Agriculture technology design and development, Agribusiness development, and climate change mitigation/adaptation. He is the founder of SavaNet.

Tia is currently the Africa Regional Director of SavaNet, an International Agriculture and Rural development organization. SavaNet build bridges between research and practical Agriculture with the development of products and services in partnership with various stakeholders.

He has worked with various international organizations to implement several international projects. They include USAID, Technical Centre for Agriculture and Rural Cooperation (CTA) in Wageningen the Netherlands, CIRAD in France, University of Evora Portugal, University of Pisa Italy, Food and Agriculture Organization – FAO of the United Nations, International Fund for Agriculture Development- IFAD, the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture – IICA, U.S Africa Development Fund – USADF, UNDP/World Bank, MESTI, Monsanto International Sarl, etc.

Tia is the National Coordinator for the implementation of the Bio4Africa project in Ghana implemented under a 25 member EU-Africa consortium focused on promoting bioeconomy development, climate change mitigation, and bio-based business development in Ghana.

Moses Nganwani Tia is also the national lead for the implementation of the climate smart ecosystem – enhancing and knowledge based rural experience and training centers (RURALITIES) Project. It is a European Union – EU Research and Innovation – RIA initiative focused on promoting rural development and climate change resilience in Ghana.

 

He had previously worked as the national coordinator for the implementation of the SALSA Project a European Union Research and Innovation – RIA initiative) implemented under a 16 member EU-Africa consortium. Tia previously worked as the Country Representation for Monsanto International Sarl in Ghana responsible for Monsanto’s Agriculture technology trials development and to represent the interest of the company in Ghana.

In recognition of his immense contribution to Agriculture development in Africa Tia was in 2014 awarded the prestigious Mandela Washington Fellowship under the Young African Leaders Initiative – YALI by the US Department of State under which he studied at the University of California Berkeley USA – Goldman School of Public Policy.

In recognition of his leadership in Agriculture in Africa he was in 2017 awarded the renowned Eisenhower Fellowship which offered him professional training in various Agriculture research Institutions and Universities in several States in the USA.

In recognition of his immense contribution towards farmer development and his achievement as a farmer, he was in 2020 awarded the flagship Global Farmer Fellowship under the Prestigious Global Farmer Network in Iowa – Des Moines USA.

Moses Nganwani Tia was born in Langbensi a rural farming community in the Northeast Region of Ghana to a Presbyterian Church Missionary and a Businesswoman. His hobbies are Photography, creative writing, planting trees and flowers, as well as listening to folk music.

Tia holds a Bsc in Agriculture Technology (Agriculture Economics and Extension) from the University for Development Studies – UDS Nyankpala with professional training at the University of California Berkeley USA – Goldman School of Public Policy and the Pardee RAND Graduate School – Los Angeles USA.
